R2 = Shoot (If held the shot can be charged for greater damage, keep in mind that charging drains stamina) Let’s have a look at the controls of the bow. I do like the fact that you can also shoot more than one arrow at a time however it still doesn’t feel as satisfying as a melee weapon. I’ve personally used the bow a few times but admittedly I prefer to get up close and personal. Nevertheless with the right distance you might never need to defend anyways. And then of course is the fact that hunters are not able to defend with the bow. The optimal range can be determined when the cross hair glows orange. The best way to achieve the results you’d want is either by coating your arrows or gaining the optimal range. For instance being too far away from the monster will reduce the damage that you’ll be able to deal. However even with speed, power buffs and safety in distance the bow still has its downfalls. Some of the other coatings include paralysis, sleep and blast effects. These include the power coating which increases damage or the poison coating which grants the hunter a higher chance of poisoning the monster. If that’s not enough hunters can also coat their arrows with specific buffs. The best part about the bow though is that the arrows are unlimited. The bow is also capable of firing off arrows quite fast and also has a long ranged attack known as the Arc Shot as well as a Power Shot which can be used if given enough time.
It not only allows the hunter to both keep their distance but also allows great agility and movement if that said monster had to close the gap between the two of you. So I’ve decided that this week it would be good to cover a ranged weapon – the bow.Īlthough the bow hits nowhere near as hard as the melee weapons it can still be quite dangerous especially in Monster Hunter World.
